With this in mind I have found two American's worth backing this year. First up is an obvious choice, Steve Stricker. |
He returned from injury in superb fashion winning the John Deere Classic. He shot -26 par for the week including a |
round of 60 and 62. |
| |
Stricker is ranked number 4 in the World yet at least 15 golfers are priced lower than he is. He has played well in the |
British Open before on a number of occasions finishing T7 in 2008 and T8 in 2007. Unlike many of the big names who |
have been focusing on this event for weeks Stricker will turn up relaxed and confident in his game after last week. |
| |
For me 66/1 on a player ranked 4th in the World, on superb form and with a good Open record is simply a joke. |
Head over to Extrabet and get this bet on quickly as these odds will not be around at the start of the week. |
| |
Next up is Bubba Watson. In 1995 John Daly turned up at St.Andrews and smashed his driver off the tee on route |
to victory. With the ball running a long way Watson has the power to do what Daly did 15 years ago. |
| |
Watson is having his best season of his career landing his first PGA Tour win at the Travelers Championship just a |
few weeks ago. He also finished T2 at the Bob Hope Classic and 3rd in the Transition Championship. As well as |
averaging over 305 yards off the tee he is 4th in Greens in Regulation and Top 30 in putting, a lethal combination. |
| |
Bubba Watson has very little experience of links golf but at 150/1 at Paddy Power he is worth an each way bet |
especially when the Irish bookmaker are paying out on the top 7 places. |
